mcc delegation at NCCHong kongA group of 4 members from Myanmar Council of Churches, Rev. Saw Shwe Lin- General Secretary of MCC), Rev. K.D Tu Lum-President of MCC, Miss Kaythi Min Din-National Secretary of SCM and Ms. Yin Yin Maw-Vice President of MCC took a tour to Churches in Asia region for partnership and fellowship. The team departed on 22th July and arrived in Hong Kong on 24th July.  They had fellowship with NCC Hong Kong, Hong Kong YMCA and they also visited Asia Pacific regional office of WSPF.   Rev. K.D Tu Lum and Sayama Mai Kaythi Min Din participated worship service at the Hong Kong Union Church while Rev. Saw Shwe Lin and Sayama Daw Yin Yin Maw joined the Kowloon Union Church on 26th July (Sunday).They had fellowship with professors, faculty and Myanmar students at the Lutheran Theological Seminary and Chunchi University on 27th July.

Hong Kong NCC agreed to take part in the MCC Round Table and rehabilitation project of Nargis victims.

Saya Tun Tun Oo, the Assistant National Coordinator of the Myanmar SCM attended the EASYNET National Coordinators Training in KL, Malaysia during 3rd -8th July 2009. The Ecumenical Asia Pacific Student and Youth Network emphasized in this gathering on the emerging concerns of interfaith dialogue with other major religions such as Buddhists in Sri Lanka and Myanmar and Muslim in Malaysia and Bangladesh etc. So the programs of the training were focused on a sharing of interfaith concerns at the international youth gatherings and activities. Participants came from Malaysia, Myanmar, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia and Pakistan etc. Saya Tun Tun Oo said that they discussed about Migration and Refugees issue.Cool

Management Training participantsService and development department held management training on 29 June to 6 July 2009 at the MESC building in Yangon. There were 21 participants from Mara Evangelical Church, Presbyterian Church, Methodist Church (Upper Myanmar), Methodist Church (Lower Myanmar), Leprosy Mission, MCC Women Department, Apprentices of SD Department, Baptist Church and a Buddhist organization at the training. Subjects imparted at the training were Development concept and principle, Project management and Office Management by Saya Than Tun; Conflict management by Sara Jaw Gun; Financial Management by Sarama Seng Ra and Monitoring and Evaluation by Saya Saw George Shey.

Inter faith student youth gatheringNational Student Youth Gathering was held on 25th-26th May 2009 at the Myanmar Ecumenical Sharing centre,601 Pyay Road, Yangon. There were 40 participants from SCM, YMCA, YWCA, Youth for Christ, Catholic Youth, Buddhist Youth, Interfaith Youth for Community Action (IYCA) and MCC Youth etc. The gathering is a very significant event in the history of Inter faith youth gathering in Myanmar.  Participants acknowledged that corporation and cooperation of youth among the different religious will have a very good impact to the society.

Sg.Maj Aye Ko Min at the Salvation Army Media workshopThe Tamwe Corps of the Salvation Army held Moving Image Production Workshop in corporation with the Communication section of the Myanmar Council of Churches on 26th-29th May 2009. Maj.Lal Thanga, the present local officer encouraged the participants that the future leaders must be equipped with media technology. He said, “Just knowing the existence of the media is no longer enough today. And we must harness the maximum use of the potential technology for the Lord.”

The workshop included an introduction to computer (the stages of the development and the minimum capacity of computer for video editing and IT); Video Camera works, Practical shooting and editing with Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 platform.
