MCC appointed new Executive Secretary for Mission and Ecumenism PDF Print E-mail

Executive Secretary Unit IDoh Doh WahMyanmar Council of Churches appointed Rev. Doh Doh Wah of Kanbe Baptist Church to be the Executive Secretary of the Mission and Ecumenism Department. He was born on 19 June 1958 in Yangon. He is a graduate of the BSc (Physic) from Rangoon Arts and Science University and he earned Bachelor of Divinity from MICT in 1985.

He served as a Missionary of MBC cum Principal of the Naga Baptist Bible College for 5 years in Khamti. And he came back to serve his mother Church in Kanbe, Yangon for a couple of years (1991-1992). After that he dedicated to be the associate director of the Evangelism and Mission Department of the Myanmar Baptist Convention (1993-1999). After that he became Director of the E&M Department until 2008.

He was appointed to the present position with effect from 1st April 2009 at the Myanmar Council of Churches.

He comes with a Vision and Mission to the National Ecumenical Body of this country:

Women Department extends support to Nargis rehabilitation PDF Print E-mail

Support Women who survived Nargissayama daw Kyin Myaing imparting the process of capacity buildingWomen department of the Myanmar Council of Churches continues to support pregnant women and maternity along with children who survived the Nargis Cyclone storm on 2nd May 2008. Most of the supports have been given to them in corporation with partners from Churches in Korea and Asian Church Women Conference. A small amount of financial support have been distributed to 250 women for rehabilitation and livelihood after a capacity building workshops in the areas of Bogalay,Laputha, Mawlamyaing Gyun, and Hlaing Thaya during February and March 2009.

Famine of mice disaster has been a wide spread phenomenon in Chin Hills and there are some humanitarian aids started to implement measure of the epidemic in the areas. It is said that a joint programme of the World Vision and the World Food Programme will implement supports in 14 villages of Siyin Land by providing rice for the workforce in road construction. It is known as Food for Work Programme that those who work in the construction will be provided 3kg of rice per head per day. The World Food Programme (WFP) will distribute 200 bags of rice, according to the local source.

Moving Image Production Workshops held in Khua Sak and Tedim PDF Print E-mail

The Communication Section of the Myanmar Council of Churches launched two media workshops on 25-28 March and 30 March-2 April 2009. The former workshop was held at Khau Sak, the first Hill Chin Christian Community (1905), and the latter one at Lawi Bual Baptist Church inTedim for Christian Community in the area. Media Workshop in Khua Sak was based on Siyin Region Baptist Association and Siyin Christian Community (SCC) and there were 12 selected participants from the community. There were 13 selected media enthusiasts from CMBC and Lawi Bual Baptist Church at the Media Workshop in Tedim.

Dr.Daniel J. Adams from Hanil University, South Korea visited the ATEM (Association for Theological Education in Myanmar) and conducted a Theological Workshop at the Myanmar Council of Churches headquarters, 601 Pyay Road,Yangon Myanmar on 14 January2009.
