![]() Rev. Khoi Lam Thang, a minister of the Leipi Baptist Church, Kalay Valley Baptist Association, who has been working as translation officer at the Bible Society of Myanmar over 5 years was installed to the General Secretary post of the Organization in Myanmar. The installation service was solemnized at the Lutheran Bethlehem Church, 181-183 Theinbyu Street, Yangon on 22nd December 2009. He is a well trained linguistic expert apart from his theological education background of having earned the BTh(Senate of Serampore Degree) and BD from the Myanmar Institute of Theology, Insein Myanmar. He was elected to be the General Secretary by the General Meeting of the Bible Society of Myanmar held on 6 March 2009 at the Cushin Hall of the Myanmar Baptist Convention,143 Minye Kyaw Swa Street, Yangon, but he is actually happened to take the position only in February 2010. The event of the installation included a laying on of hands by 9 member denominational Church leaders while Rev. Dr. Tha Din pronounced words of dedication. Bible Society of Myanmar is a cooperating of the Myanmar Council of Churches. The position of the General Secretary does not have term that he is likely be there for about 20 years because the age of retirement from the position has been extended from 60 to 65 years of age during administration of the former General Secretary, Re. Dr. Saw Mar Gay Gyi. The office and showroom of the Bible Society is located at 262 Sule Pagoda Road, Yangon. Bible Society has a significant role in publication of the scriptures into many ethnic languages in Myanmar. Therefore support of prayer as well as financial contribution is always needed |
